We just can't seem to help ourselves - as well as Auntie Ruby we have acquired two more new team members this week. Unlike Ruby however, these team members are not very large, covered in feathers and, in a few weeks time we hope, will begin to lay us delicious eggs.....
The two pretty little new girls, looking most unsure about emerging from their travel box for the first time, are Betty Blue and Flora. Flora is the white hen who will add lovely white eggs to our assortment of colours, whilst we are promised that Betty will lay brown eggs with an unusual
plum tinge. They will of course also be providing eggs to include in the welcome packs for Rhubarb our shepherd's hut visitors once they begin laying later in the spring.
Our existing girls (seen at the top of the photo gobbling all their delicious treats as fast as they can to avoid having to share with the newbies) have been giving us eggs all winter so there will be plenty to go around!
There's plenty to enjoy in the March edition of the Bustle & Sew Magazine too, including some Easter projects as Easter is early this year, falling on 31 March....
Easter is a great excuse for creating rabbit designs - though I have restricted myself to just a couple this year. The star of the show for me is the Hoopful of Hens (and one rooster/cockerel) which features our new girls as well as existing ladies. I think my favourite article to
research this month was the art of Marianne North. To my shame I had never heard her name, though as I read about her I began to realise how her art has influenced many of today's designers....
