Living out here in the country as we do, with no near neighbours, I have become very aware of the ebb and flow of the natural world around me through the seasons. Last autumn's Wheel of the Year project (possibly my favourite project ever!) reflects these changes  - with the exception of July's puffin and lighthouse of course  (no lighthouses outside our house, though we do have a signal box haha).

I feel very privileged to be able to watch the geese overhead during their great autumn migration, spot the early swallows arriving in the spring and enjoy the antics of frolicking hares in the field behind the signal box. And it's this element of seasonality that I try to bring to the Bustle & Sew Magazine.  The current magazine (July) has a bit of a coastal and holiday theme....

Whilst the next edition (August) takes us into the Kitchen Garden, at its most productive then, with wonderful produce to enjoy - think tomatoes, aubergines, and even cabbages between the pages!  I love assembling the magazine as it brings together my love for home, countryside, cooking and of course, at its heart, my passion for stitching.  It's a unique (and perhaps rather eccentric in a very English way) publication that doesn't fit neatly into any pigeonhole that I know about. 

Sadly, the not so good news is that, in the face of ever-increasing costs, I will have to increase the price of the magazine for new subscribers in the near future.  Existing subscribers don't need to worry as I guarantee no price rises (ever)  once you have begun your subscription.

The Wheel of the Year panel is in stock on Etsy  There is also a digital option if you're confident with drawing and dividing your own circle and transferring the motifs.the so many birds

Anyway, the Wheel of the Year panel is now back in stock on Etsy and delivery times have returned to normal after the Christmas holidays.  There’s also an option for a fully digital pattern if you’re confident drawing your own circles and transferring the motifs.) the edges of each panel as I always think finishing the edges to avoid fraying is one of the less exciting parts of beginning a new project.  The panels are printed on a nice quality pure cotton fabric that is a pleasure to work with.  I loved stitching my own wheel (you can see it in pride of place on my shelf in the first image), and really didn’t want to finish it.  I shall have to think of another project that takes us through the year in the same way – there are so many birds, flowers and other motifs I would have loved to have stitched but simply didn’t have space for!
