Bustle & Sew Newsletter: New Beginnings...

Hi ,

Although we had a wonderful honeymoon last month, it was great to come home again to the warmest of welcomes from the dogs (I don't think the chickens had really missed us!), and to see how spring had advanced during our time away. The steam trains are running again, and we are busy getting Rhubarb and Custard ready for our first guests of the new season next week....

The chickens are laying regularly now the days are longer, so there will be fresh eggs for breakfast for all our guests. The Engineer is down in the Kitchen Garden at the moment giving the windows a little extra polish, while I have sewn new cushions and made up the beds with lovely freshly washed linen - don't you just love the smell of crisp fresh linen?!

As if all this wasn't enough, following the success of my last major project - my Wheel of the Year design, which has proved to be very popular....

This is still currently in stock in my Etsy shop, though there are just a few available at present while I await the arrival of new stitching guides to include in the mini-kits. But I digress (something I am remarkably good at!).

We were eating supper one night when the Engineer remarked, "Why don't you try stitching the Twelve Days of Christmas?" At first I wasn't sure, but our holiday gave me time to consider his idea. I decided yes, this would indeed be a lot of fun to design and stitch. I've decided that my Twelve Days will be a set of small-ish bunting flags, and have already drafted out all twelve. Here's a little peek at a few of the flags in this very early stage....

There's a lot of work still to do as I'd like to offer, if not a full kit, then certainly the printed panels to save all that transferring, and of course I need to stitch all the samples! I am looking forward to many happy hours working on these in the garden as the weather warms up a little! I'll keep you informed as the project progresses, but meanwhile if you have any thoughts about these you'd like to share then please do let me know.

And finally - whilst my happy place is in the garden, hoop in hand, Alfie's happy place is definitely at our local dog field. It's fully enclosed which means he can run free without any concerns about our being able to recall him due to his deafness. I thought you'd love to see these pictures as he looks so joyous pelting around at top speed!!
