It's at this time of year, as the days grow longer and there are snowdrops scattered across the countryside in every direction, that spring seems so tantalisingly close. Not yet upon us - there will be plenty of dull days and cold nights to come before the winter ends, but certainly just over the horizon and nearly within our reach.  

I will be super-glad to see the end of winter this year. The weather has been harsh and unkind up here on the Mendips and I seem to have spent quite a lot of the time being ill. I know that many people have experienced much worse than us over the past few months though, and my heart goes out to you all. 

The chickens especially are tired of wet and windy weather. On stormy days they huddle together in their shelter, their feathers muddy and bedraggled and I can tell they too are dreaming of sunny days ahead. So, before that warmer weather arrives, and we all head off into the great outdoors, I thought now would be a good time to have my last sale for a little while - this time my annual book store sale.
